My September Favourites...

Here are the things i've loved this month....

  • (l-r) Avon cherry blossom daily hair refresher. Smells beautiful, and fresh on tired hair, way better than Batiste and the like.

  • Maybelline dream creamy foundation. Easy to apply, and looks and feels light and natural.

  • Bourjois intense eyeshadow shade 3. Subtle daytime eyeshadow with sparkle, and strong pigmentation.

  • Estee Lauder Michael Kors Very Hollywood lipgloss. Soft pink colour, and not too sticky.

  • NYC Natural Matte foundation. See my review a few posts ago.

  • H&M Nail polish in Come Rain. Pewter with sparkle, perfect September colour!

  • Boots 17 Nail polish in Fury. The most beautiful bronze i've seen, literally like liquid metal.

  • NYC Chroma Face Glow in Sunstone. Compliments my freckles and red hair perfectly. Like a Mac MSF at about a 1/20 of the price :)

  • Scandalous Rock Chick Wave Spray. If you have curly hair you have to try this. Gives my hair great volume, and defined curls.

New Things...

Here are some new things...

I picked up these gel eyeliners from the Topshop make up range in the sale- it cost £5 for all 3- which is a lot more reasonable than the usual prices which are stupidly high.

In Boots Collection 2000 make up was 2 for £5. I got the supersize fat lash mascara (which so far is disappointing), and an extreme felt tip eyeliner in purple (which is really good!). I also bought the new 17 mascara falsifeye which for a drugstore mascara is quite impressive. It also came with a pot of black gel liner.

My love for NYX make up continues and i got another 2 cream blushers in tea rose, and orange. I also got an eyeshadow base in skintone, and an Avon lipstick.

Of course some Hello Kitty!

And some cute shoes from primark. And H&M and Primark earrings.

And lastly, this! How cute is it. It's a plushie milk carton that i got very cheap from ebay...i couldn't resist!

Spend Vs Steal: A Mascara Overview!

Mascara is one of my favourite and most used make up item. In fact if i could only have one make up item to use for the rest of my life, would certainly be mascara. I'm always on the look out for a good one, and have tried many, so here's my views on a few of them....

1. Avon- Supershock (£10, often £5 on offer)
The brush for this one is plastic, and massive. Because the 'bristles' are so short i find this one quite awkward to use. The effect is nothing special, and certainly not as the name suggests, but i do find this a good one for the lower lashes. Overall nothing special. 4/10

2. Boots 17 Va Va Voom (£5.99)
This mascara is kind of marketed as the cheap dupe for Benefits BadGal Lash with the oversized bristle brush. I actually prefer this to BadGal! Althought it's nothing amazing, i quite like this as a reliable daytime mascara. It gives a nice amount of volume without being too obvious. 5/10

3. Boots No.7 Intense Volume(£10.50)
I have fond feelings for this one, as it was my hg mascara for a long time when i was younger. I think this is a good all rounder- giving a nice bit of volume and curl and a lovely intense colour. The brush is a nice classic size and shape, a good one if you don't want to go for the expense of high end. 7/10

4.Lancome Hypnose (£20)
Put simply, this is my favourite mascara i have ever tried! The way it transforms my lashes is amazing, massive volume, a nice curl, and the right amount of seperation. It really gives lashes the wow factor. The formula gives an intense colour, and doesn't dry out all crispy like most mascaras do. The brush is just the right size, and the bristles are the perfect length, so as to stop the liquid going all gloopy. Love it! 10/10

5. Benefit BadGal Lash (£14.50 Boots, ASOS £15.50 Debenhams)
I know this is a really popular one, but i just can't get on with this myself. I must admit to not being a huge fan of Benefit make up, but i really did try. I find the brush to be crazily big, and it just doesn't really do much for me... 2/10

6. Sleek Volume & Curl (£3.70)
Amazingly good value, and a great daytime mascara. Nice and subtle, it does a great job at giving a nice pretty curl, and a little bit of volume. I really like the brush on this one-very easy to apply. Great for everyday. 6/10

7. Rimmel Sexy Curves (£4.99 Superdrug. Prices vary)
This was another one i've heard a lot of good stuff about, but i was really disappointed. I must admit to preferring the bristle brushes to the plasic ones like these. The brush is useful for getting right to the root of the lashes, but i have naturally long lashes so the brush was rubbish for coating the length. It didn't deliver on volume or curl for me, and the result was underwhelming. I tend to only reach for this for my lower lashes, as the brush is very good for that. 3/10

8. Clinique High Impact (£14.50).
This one is another favourite. A nice classic brush, with a lovely formula that can be layered to create a pretty daytime look or vampy dramatic night time lash. Great all rounder but particulary good for volume. 9/10

9. Chanel Exceptionnel De Chanel (£20)
This was the first mascara to combine the bristle and plastic brush into one. I really like this one, as you can use the plastic part to get to the roots for seperation and use the brush part for volume and curl. Really nice dramatic effect. This is a favourite night time mascara for me. The downside is it is on the pricey side, and tends to go gloopy fairly quick. 8/10

So that's my humble opinion on the mascaras i've most recently tried. Any good ones i've missed out on?

Things i've bought lately

Here are just some things i've bought over the last couple of weeks. I haven't really been spending much, but i'm always on the lookout for a bargain.

Predictably i got the Sleek Sunset palette (probably along with everyone else), and the colours are lovely. I also bought 2 of their eye dusts to try. They had an impressive selection of colours and the were only £2.93 each.I chose Hypnotic which is a midnight blue, and Fantasy which is purple. I'm looking forward to giving these a go. I also picked up a Collection 2000 Glam Crystals glitter liner. I have heard so many good things about these liners and they are so cheap at £2.93 each. They have so many colours to choose from, but i fell for 11 shake it up which is the most beautiful blueish purple.
I also ordered online an Bourjois Vintage Collection little round pot set. This is basically 3 of their eyeshadows with a vintage design on the packaging- that's why i got it.... they just look so cute!

I stopped in Primark to have a look at their makeup range, i wanted to see if they had anything interesting. The only thing that caught my eye were these nail polishes, i got a nice grape colour, and a 2 pack of a green, and a really pretty glitter top coat. Both were a £1 each, i've never tried their cosmetics before but i thought i'd give them a go.

Again very predicatably i bought the Sleek Graphite palette, and also some little pots to empty my UDPP into because the packaging is awful.

I found a real bargain in TK Maxx. I am a HUGE fan of Lancome eyeshadows, and i found this quad 105 renaissance a lovely selection of smokey greens (and current season) for £9.99. I also went into Boots to get the Limited Edition No.7 Opulance Highlighter (£13) from the Christmas Collection. I have a thing for limited edition No.7 stuff and i thought the packaging looked so pretty. I was planning ongetting the eye palette as well, but on seeing itin the shop i changed my mind. Well done me :)

Lastly i bought the 3 Harajuku Lovers perfumes i don't have. These are the Snow Bunnies Christmas editions. Ijust think these perfumes are so cute! Igot these from Boots, and there were included in the Christmas 3 for 2 so they were £12.50 each and i got 1 free.

Also, to cheer me upthe other week my sister gave me some Hello Kitty treats. Iamobsessed with Hello Kitty, so she gave be a watch, and a hardback notebook and little heart mirror. Very Very nice! (^_^)

Collective shopping spree

Just some pics of the things i've bought in the past week or so...

These are the things i bought from www.loveheartsandcrosses.co.uk they do some really lovely cute jewellery. I got some dangly swallow earrings and a £10 lucky dip bag (i can't resist lucky dip bags!) which contained some heart studs, cute gold and pearl bow studs, a long owl necklace, a long horse necklace and some dangly gold heart earrings.

Spending yet another £5 n0.7 voucher (and yes with this purchase i got ANOTHER!) it was also 3 for 2 so i got: (L-R) Soft Damson blush, Coral Flush blush, and Maple Silk cream blush.

In Superdrug i bought Sleek tinted lip conditioners in Electro Peach & Pink Cadiilac (these are really hard to find!!), Barry M nail paint in Cobalt Blue, and as Gosh was on 3 for 2 i bought a nail polish in Deep Purple, and a velvet touch lipliner in Nougat Crisp (weird name), and an effec powder in Meringue. This is basically their version of a dazzle dust or pigment so i'm interested to see what they're like..

I also got my Avon order this week-i got Planet Spa japanese sake and rice face mask, Planet Spa african shea butter foot & elbow cream (smells amazing), and liiv botanicals in harmony eau de toilette.
:-)
