My September Favourites...

Here are the things i've loved this month....

  • (l-r) Avon cherry blossom daily hair refresher. Smells beautiful, and fresh on tired hair, way better than Batiste and the like.

  • Maybelline dream creamy foundation. Easy to apply, and looks and feels light and natural.

  • Bourjois intense eyeshadow shade 3. Subtle daytime eyeshadow with sparkle, and strong pigmentation.

  • Estee Lauder Michael Kors Very Hollywood lipgloss. Soft pink colour, and not too sticky.

  • NYC Natural Matte foundation. See my review a few posts ago.

  • H&M Nail polish in Come Rain. Pewter with sparkle, perfect September colour!

  • Boots 17 Nail polish in Fury. The most beautiful bronze i've seen, literally like liquid metal.

  • NYC Chroma Face Glow in Sunstone. Compliments my freckles and red hair perfectly. Like a Mac MSF at about a 1/20 of the price :)

  • Scandalous Rock Chick Wave Spray. If you have curly hair you have to try this. Gives my hair great volume, and defined curls.

A very late Birthday haul and other stuff....

Firstly sorry for the lack of posts lately, although i do have good reason for going blog awol for a month. I've been busy moving to a new place, and now i've got my internet sorted and i'm (mostly) unpacked i thought i'd start with a birthday/collective haul type thing.

It was my Birthday on August the 8th, and i turned 25...eek! I got some lovely things, and there may be a long time until the next haul, seeing as im spending all my spare cash on household things lately (I did really need that hot pink bin, and matching washing up bowl!).
So here goes...

First up this really cute Me & Zena necklace

This is the Clinique gift that came with the below face wash and high impact mascara.

A load of Sleek pout paints, i love these and plan to post a review soon.

Some pressed powder from Mac, as well as beauty marked eyeshadow, and a lipgloss.

Some goodies from a trip to Superdrug.

A Tokidoki for Smashbox eyeshadow quad, and Benefit concealer set, and a perfume from M&S called Butterfly that smells of watermelon yum!

Shower gels from The Body Shop- as you can see i can't get enough of these. My favourite is satsuma.

And how could i call this a haul without some Hello Kitty!?

And, finally a Paul's Boutique bag called 'Jackie'. It is absolutely huge, and very lovely.

Thanks for reading (^_^)

New Things...

Here are some new things...

I picked up the new Molten Metal compact from Sleek. I wasn't going to bother with this until i swatched it- it's lovely. I'm looking forward to testing this against my Illamasqua liquid metal. Gosh was also having a sale, so i got a liner and 2 effects powders for £2.49 each.

In Boots 17 make up is on 3 for 2. They have some new mascara's i was interested in trying- Wild Curls, and Photo Flawless which has a 'twist of pearlescent colour to brighten eyes' mine is in black copper. I also got an eyeshadow trio.I cannot recommend their eyeshadows enough. Particularly for the price.

Also in Boots, there was an offer on Models Own- 3 for £10. I got 2 nail polishes in Jade Stone, and Golden Peach, and a lipstick in Coral which is amazingly bright. I also got a Maybelline nail polish in Flash Cosmic which is a pearly white with blue sparkles in.

During the January sale i had a discount code for 25% of at Cherry Culture so decided to take advantage, and get some NYX products. I got a lip lacquer pot in simply red (which is actually a deep dark red that i love), and a concealer in a jar in porcelene.

Also at Cherry Culture i bought 3 NYX cream blushes which were reduced to $6 each (bargain!). I am in love with these, they work prefect on both cheeks and lips.

An lastly, a whole pile of cheap and cheerful (and very lovely) accessories from Primark :)

New Things...

On Tuesday as i had the day of work i decided i would be the most organised i've ever been and get all my Christmas presents so i could sit back while everyone else is rushing about in December. Of course i didn't realise it was half term and that everywhere would be madly busy...

Despite that i'm pleased to say the bulk of my Christmas shopping is done. Along the way i made a few selfish purchases as well...

I popped into Superdrug to get one of the new Sleek palettes called Good Girl. This one is a limited edition and ignoring the awfully tacky box is a lovely array of pinks and reds. A colour i lack in my eyeshadow collection. The other palette called Bad Girl is a perminant edition, but to me seemed very similar to the previously released Graphite palette so i gave it a miss.

In M&S i couldn't resist this cute Hello Kitty coin purse that came with a little lipgloss and a box of mini nail polishes that are 4 lovely velvety glitter colours.

Also in superdrug i got Sleeks new pout polish in Powder Pink and also noticed a new stand for Famous by Sue Moxley. A brand i've never used before i picked up a lovely eyeshadow trio called rainforest for £5.

A Maybelline eyeshadow. I'm not a fan of this brand but i'm a sucker for midnight blues, and this colour is beautiful.

In Boots 17 had a 3 for 2 offer so i picked up an eyeshadow trio, an eyeshadow in a new colour Emerald Gold and a glitter liner in a soft purple.
With a no.7 voucher i had i bought the new mascara they have out -Exceptional Definition. The main reason i got this was for the free palette that comes with it. The 4 colours look and feel like suede.

Last week i made an Avon order and got 2 nail polishes. The picture doesn't do them any justice at all but they are both very festive and glittery. I also got 2 lipsticks a cherry red and a rose gold. Below.

And finally i got Sensuous Noir from Estee Lauder.

A little review of Maybelline Colossal Mascara...

Am i the only one that absolutely dispises Maybelline mascaras?

I bought this because it was on offer at Boots, and i've heard so many people say good things about it. So i thought i'd give it a fair try.

In my humble opinion the formula is too liquidy and smells really awful. The smell is so strong i can smell it when it's on my lashes! It doesn't really do much for my lashes, i mean it coats them ok but is disappointing. The brush is nothing special,no where near worthy of a £8 quid price tag.

The worst thing of course is that it makes my eyes itch like made. So much so i stopped wearing it and threw it in the bin. I never normally have reactions to mascaras like this...

Needless to say, i'll be avoiding mabelline mascaras like the plague in future!

Lately i've mostly been using...

Here are the products i've found myself using a lot lately:

  • Simple facial toner and hydrating moisturiser. I have really sensitive skin so this works well for me, although the moisturiser is a little disappointing.
  • Loreal Telescopic mascara. This was an impulse buy-i realised i'd never bought anything by Loreal before. It makes my lashes huge but is really drying.
  • Boots 17 Lasting fix nail polish in Orange Soda. Such a pretty creamy orange colour.
  • Barry M Shimmering eye & lip crayon 7. Perfect as a base, i also like wearing this on it's own with some mascara.
  • Avon Glazewear lipstick in choc sequins. I've never been one for brown lippie, but i love this one- and its nice and glossy.
  • Vasaline. I've had an attack of dry lips so have been using this religiously.
  • Boots 17 eyeshadow in Statuesque. I'm so impressed with this! Lovely and creamy, and a beautiful daytime colour.
  • Maybelline Loose mineral powder foundation. I'm not an everyday foundation wearer, but this is great coverage without feeling heavy on the skin.
And on another note i watched 'Worried About the Boy' last night on BBC2. It was a brilliant drama about Boy George, and the make up in it was amazing!

Most Used: October

Here are the things i've been mostly using during October:
  • Gosh velvet touch eyeliner in Bananas. Great for lining the under eye.
  • ELF Studio eyeliner & shadow stick in black & smoke. I've found my new favourite blackliner!
  • Avon cuticle balm. Really cute tin for carrying round.
  • Gosh touch up concealer. Really impressed with this.
  • Witch Stick. A must have for spots.
  • No.7 stay perfect nail polish in rose truffle. A lovely dusky winter colour.
  • Boots Natural Collection vanilla body spray. Cheap and cheerful & smells lovely.
  • Lancome Hypnose Mascara. This was a trial size, but i'll definately be purchasing the full size, it's amazing!
  • Maybelline colour sensation lipstick in ambre rose. A good one for everyday wear.
  • Mac cremesheen lipstick in creme cup. Again another good one for everyday.
  • Lancome Hydra Zen moisturiser. Hmm.. this is still on trial.
  • Mac Blush of Youth beauty powder. Initially i wasn't a fan, but i've been converted.
  • Mac paint pot in bare study. Trusty eyeshadow base.
  • L'Occitane hand cream. This was a freebie with a magazine, but it is the most luxurious hand cream i've ever tried.

August shopping

This month like every other has involved a lot of shopping, but i've made a conscious effort to cut down on the spending so have been trying to find bargains, offers and all that.
I got these from Primark for £4 something and then added my own laces. (i've been waiting to use these laces for ages!)

I got one of the new Maybelline lippies in amber rose which i like a lot. This is the kind of lipstick which is perfect for daytime wear and reminds me a little of pink sand by Estee Lauder. Every time i go into Boots i get a £5 voucher for no.7/ruby & millie and i can't not use it (i have problems!) so i got ano.7 eyeshadow in shocking purple which cost me just a couple of pounds. The colour in the packaging looks amazing but sadly once on as i find with all no.7 eyeshadows the pigmentation is disappointing.

I also got a ruby & millie lipgloss in peach which cost me £6.50. The colour looks lovely but it does go on sheer. The texture is nice enough, but the smell isn't so nice. I am really glad i didn't pay full price for these products.

In Superdrug Bourjois is on 3 for 2 so i got 2 eyeliners. One if them is an amazing 80's electric blue!

I got a really really cute Hello Kitty necklace and earrings set from Argos for £10.39! I love it :) and some cute pearl bracelets from Sainsbury's for £5.
